Lincolns appeal date set

The dates for Lincolns’ appeal against the revocation of their licence has been set. It will be held on 30 and 31 March, and 1 April at Waltham Forest Magistrates’ Court (next to Walthamstow Town Hall).

It’s open to the public to attend.

How clean is your local restaurant?

You can now read the results of food hygiene inspections online, in an initiative called “scores on the doors”. This covers everywhere that serves food, from shops through to restaurants.

The scores are awarded with 5 stars being the best (Excellent: Very high standards of food safety management. Fully compliant with food safety legislation) through to no stars (Very poor: A general failure to comply with legal requirements. Little or no appreciation of food safety. Major effort required).

Flash Bristow has looked at the scores for premises near the FARA area.

The winners are…

Best Pubs: Walnut Tree (4 stars), O’Neills (3)
Best Chicken / Kebab takeaways: McDonalds (4 stars), KFC (3)
Best Cafes: George’s Cafe (3 stars), Subway (3)
Best Restaurants: Ichiban (4 stars), Golden Curry (3), Elche (3), Singburi (3), Mudra (3)

All others scored 2 or below (note: a few scores were not available, including New Golden Orient and Horizon). The only food outlet in Leytonstone to score 5 points was Whipps Cross Hospital Kitchen.

Ones to avoid – these scored NO stars…

Chopsticks
Kirkdales Wine Bar
Lincolns
Le Parisien Cafe
