Today a compromise was reached between Trust Inns (owners of Lincolns) and the Council, Police and FARA members, at the licence appeal hearing. There were also representatives present from the hostel in Davies Lane and from Bushwood Area Residents Association (BARA).
Trust Inns had been appealing the revocation of the licence for Lincolns. They presented a proposal under which Lincolns will remain closed for six months, be refurbished and rebranded, and then reopen as a traditional style pub.
This pub would cater for the immediate local community, selling real ales and running events such as quiz nights.
A number of conditions were imposed on the pub and many of these were specified by FARA representatives. One of the rules is that Trust Inns must hold quarterly meetings with the local residents, the police and the council. They must also be directly answerable for the pub – the licence must remain in their hands rather than being passed on to a third party tenant.
We feel that the compromise is workable and hope that Trust Inns are finally committed to changing the nature of Lincolns for good.
